May and June Updates :: 05/04/2008
Summertime is starting to Roll in here in the Northwest.
May 20th has a surprise appearance from MEGATRON
at Boundary Bay Brewery for Jazz Night. And at the end of the month, Megatron will be rocking out at the Rogue Hero, another epic show to be sure.
The month of June has some very exciting events…
Monday, June 2nd DJ Grapenuts will be DJing at Joel Ricci’s “Lucky Lounge” at the Wind Buffalo. Expect a range of smoking disco cookers and sultry soul swingers. Special Guest band for the night in Brooklyn New York’s own Chin Chin… a rediculously funky disco dance band from the future. not to miss.

Sunday June 15th brings a the Washington Beer Festival to Seattle, and what would a Beer festival be without Megatron.... or maybe that’s what would Megatron be without BEER?
anyhow, 12:30 to 2pm the ‘Tron will be rocking it out for some Sunday Afternoon BEER DRINKING!...
and now, for the BIG news…
On June 28th, Megatron will be returning to the Commodore Ballroom for the Vancouver International Jazz Festival opening for The Budos Band!!!! this will be a night not to miss for fans of great music and booty-shaking fun. The Commodore was such a great venue for Megatron when they opened for Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, and this show with Budos is looking just as good if not better.
The boys of Tron are getting some new tunes together, and ready to bring it on.
On the label tip, there is going to be a new addition to the small dirt factory family:
Proceed is a new project, spearheaded by drummer/percussionist Karl Olsen that includes Jesse Hunter on Guitar and Tim Holmes on keys. It is a journey through space and time, through layered percussion, sweepy synths, and a strong foundation in DEEP DARK DUB...and tells the story of a nightime adventure of a small mammal.
In addition to the music, this limited edition release is packaged in the form of a graphic novel, with all original artwork… MORE DETAILS TO COME…
the title is ”Loris 2028” and is is getting mastered as we speak!

March and April Updates :: 03/04/2008
GEEEEZZ! its already a quarter into 2008!
Time is flying, but as always it’s filled with all kinds of good things.
March 15th brings another installment of the fabulous Boogie Universal community dance party!
Special guest set to DJ before Bellingham dancehall funksters the Yogoman Burning Band
is none other than… DJ GRAPENUTS!!!!

Saturday March 22nd has DJ Grapenuts selecting up at Mt. Baker for the Easter Egg Hunt and other festivities.
April provides some opportunities to catch up with the boys of Megatron...
The first week of April is a private event up at Mt. Baker for 3 days of partying with the happy folks at K2… Megatron and DJ Grapenuts in full effect!!!
The 19th brings the Tron to Seattle to play at the Seamonster Lounge
and the next weekend, the 25th at the Rogue Hero in Bellingham…
prepare to be drenched in beer and sweat by the end of the evening.
January and February Updates :: 02/24/2008
MEXICO MEXICO MEXICO…
January was spent in warm weather with a good tequila buzz.
New Years show in Puerta Vallarta, and then chill out time with my lovely lady.
Checked out Yalapa, a small community, only accessible by boat, and Grapenuts made his DJ Debut at the Yacht Club. Total disaster. I guess they just weren’t ready for the G-Nutz. their loss.
Great new friends at a sweet spot called the Oasis and had a much better night spinning Dub and Downtempo. Big Up’s to Diego and Kari, and my homegirl Gabriella… our rendition of “Bright Eyes” was nothing but EPIC!
here’s my favorite beach dog, named appropriately, “Alien”.
February holds some good times with DJ Grapenuts spinning up at Mt. Baker Ski (& Snowboard) Area for the Banked Slallom Competition. Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th at noon at the lower lodge.
the Monkey Knife Fight Improvisatory Struggle continues ever Tuesday night at 9pm at Boundary Bay Brewery and every Friday night at the Wild Buffalo ...good times.
Megatron with SJ & DAP KINGS :: 12/15/2007
oh my gosh… what an amazing weekend with Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings.
Saturday night in Vancouver, Megatron opened to 1100 smiling Canadians, and completely tore the roof off. Hanging out with the boys; Gabe, Homer, Fernando, Todd… and then Ms. Jones herself, what an amazing presence. She blows my mind. Not many nights will compare to that one! and not many weekends to this one either!

November has Megatron at the Rogue Hero on Friday the 16th, with our good friend Lorin Ashton (aka BASSNECTAR) performing at the Nightlight Lounge the next night! WHOOP WHOOP!
The end of the month holds furious rehearsals for Dream Science Circus’ new show: Sleeping On the Ceiling, With musical direction and original music composed by Paul Chandler, and featuring a stellar circus band. Show starts December 1st, with a matinee and evening show on the 2nd at Whatcom Community College.
and now… drumroll please!
Megatron has ben asked to open for Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings- only the hottest frickin’ band in the country! The ‘Tron will play Friday the 8th at Neumos in Seattle, Saturday the 9th at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver B.C., and at the Nightlight Lounge in Bellingham on Sunday the 10th. YAHOO!
on Saturday the 15th DJ Grapenuts in all his glory spins at the Brian Utting School of Massage Graduation party with Flowmotion
Then, it’s off to Mexico on a magic bus that runs on waste vegetable oil with the Dream Science Circus crew for some mayhem and fun… back in February!
DJ Grape-Nuts going to ASIA! :: 10/10/2007
DJ Grape-Nuts has been requested to dj an amazing event in Shanghai, China in late October…
the Shanghai Showdown is a world class skateboarding, BMX, and moto-bike comp, held in the worlds LARGEST skateboard park in Shanghai. Grape-Nuts’ old friend Dave McKay is the Event organizer, and asked him on to head up sound, and Dj the event!
afterwards a few of them head to Tokyo, and off to the southern islands of Japan to do some warm weather surfing.
